Nine @ Columbia

Dan Weekes, director of the Building Forensics Team at The Veridus Group, was retained as an extension to the 908 Group Design Team to provide the punch list assessment of the substantially complete University Student Housing residential buildings in Columbia, South Carolina. The buildings consist of four and five floor level areas comprised of 126 residential units with 486 total beds at approximately 162,300 square feet.

“Dan Weekes’ attention to detail was exactly what we were looking for and he was able to assist us in getting this project across the finish line,” said Marcos Waissmann, Director of Design and Planning – 908 Group.

Before traveling to the location, Dan reviewed the construction documents to gain an understanding of construction and finishes. Upon arrival on site, the goal of the assessment was to thoroughly review all building areas for substantial completion and general finish conditions, and document any deficiencies or unfinished construction activities that remain to be addressed. This included each residential unit made up of living areas, kitchen, bedrooms, closets, bathrooms and mechanical closets. They also included common areas such as corridors, study spaces, stairs and elevators. Upon completion of each building area and floor level, Dan provided 908 Group with a standardized summary report of punch list conditions or issues remaining to be addressed.
